Orwell Bridge, near Ipswich, sets speed restrictions due to windy conditions from Storm Jocelyn

Motorists on the Orwell Bridge were travelling at a reduced speed this morning as Storm Jocelyn continues to hit the county.

Those using the bridge, on the outskirts of Ipswich, saw a temporary speed limit in place of 40mph as National Highways confirmed it is monitoring wind speeds in the area.

A post on X, formerly Twitter, from Highways said it may close the bridge for safety reasons if wind speeds increase.

The speed restriction was for both ways on the A14 bridge between J57 A1189 (Nacton Interchange) and J56 A137 (Wherstead Interchange).

Despite the windy conditions, a weather warning has not been put in place for Suffolk.

This is change from the recent run-ins with Storm Isha and Storm Henk as the Met Office put yellow warnings for wind and rain in place.
