Stretch of A14 eastbound around Ipswich to shut tomorrow for East Anglia THREE converter station transformer move from port
The A14 will shut for a period tomorrow as a ‘large load’ is escorted from a port.
National Highways posted on X at 8.42am saying the convoy will be moved from Ipswich Port to Bramford, starting at 8am.
It said the lorry, which will be carrying a transformer for the East Anglian THREE converter station, will move very slowly due to its size.
A police escort will temporarily hold traffic.
The load will travel on the A137 Wherstead Road from the port to junction 56 of the A14.
Part of the A137 northbound will be closed from the junction with the B1456 to the junction with Bostock Road to install and temporary overbridge to facilitate the journey.
The eastbound carriageway will then be shut between junctions 56 and 55; the load will travel west using the eastbound lane under police escort.
This is estimated to be between 9am and 11am, although Scottish Power Renewables has said times may change ‘due to the complexity of the manouevre.
From junction 55, it will then run north along the A1214, left on the A1071 and north on the B1113 past Sproughton and towards Bramford.
The route leaves the B1113, going west on Bullen Lane to the East Anglia THREE converter station site.
Heavy delays are expected.
