A spokesperson for the Met Office has warned of a small chance of flooding and damage to buildings, bringing with it flying debris.

Disruptions to public transport are expected and the body has also warned of a slight risk of injury and danger to life.

Much of the rain is expected in the north and west of the country, with snow also expected at higher altitudes.

In addition, commuters have been urged to take care when travelling, check road conditions, and plan for extra time.
