Ipswich records one of highest Covid-19 rates in country

Ipswich has one of the highest Covid-19 infection rates in the country with nearly 700 cases.

Government data up to October 3 revealed the seven day infection rate in Ipswich was 513.3 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 698 cases in the town in that timeframe.

West Suffolk, Mid Suffolk and Babergh recorded an increase in cases.

West Suffolk had 626 cases with an infection rate of 353.1, Mid Suffolk had 400 cases with a rate of 381.5 and Babergh had 342 cases with a rate of 368.8.

East Suffolk saw a decrease with 763 cases and an infection rate of 304.7.

Kettering, in Northamptonshire, has the country's highest infection rate at 876.6 and 896 total cases.
