An investigation has been launched after a 15-year-old girl reported being followed by a man while walking her dog in Sproughton.

The girl was walking along the High Street and Monk Gate at around 4.15pm on Tuesday, May 10, when she first felt uneasy about a man who was walking behind her.

The man is alleged to have quickened his pace when she did, before she then turned into the playing field in Church Lane.

After turning into the playing field, she noticed the man was sat on a bench while watching her walk round the edge of the football pitch. The girl then went to the next field where she saw some members of the public.

A concerned family friend alerted her parents, who went to the park. The man, who was still in the vicinity of the playing field, denied following the girl, but a police spokesperson said the parents felt he was acting suspiciously.

The man is described as white, in his 50s, 6ft tall, with thinning grey hair and wearing a blue denim jacket.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Suffolk Police quoting crime reference 37/29287/22.
