A teenager from Ipswich has been given a 12-month custodial sentence for drug offences.

Gabriel Szypulski, 18, of Fullham Way, was sentenced to a young offenders institution on September 19.

Officers detained Szypulski after witnessing a suspected exchange of drugs, with a quantity of drugs discovered in subsequent searches.

Following a search of his home, £12,000 in cash was discovered in one room

The 18-year-old was handed a suspended nine month sentence while he was ordered to forfeit £13,500.

In July, Szypulski was again arrested with evidence suggesting he was involved in drug dealing.

Having pleaded guilty to possession to intent to supply Class B drugs, he was sentenced to three months at a young offender institution at Ipswich Crown Court earlier this month.

He was also ordered to serve the previously suspended nine month sentence and to forfeit £590 in cash that had been discovered during police searches.

Following his sentencing, PC Matthew Milton said: “Despite being given a second opportunity, Szypulski returned to trying to profit from drug dealing.

“Hopefully he will be able to change his ways while serving his custodial sentence and improve his life.

“We know the damage these drugs cause to our communities. To the individuals affected by them and the damage suffered by all caught up in the resulting criminality.

“Hopefully this shows that we do not forget. If you continue in your criminal enterprises we will investigate, we will arrest and we will seek charges.”
