Ipswich's top 10 most Instagrammable places including Christchurch Park, Portman Road Stadium and The Cosy Club




As Covid restrictions ease and lives begin to resemble 'normality' again, data has revealed that leisure and hospitality businesses are among the most Instagrammable places in Ipswich.

Destination Management Organisation, All About Ipswich, found that 925 Instagram hotspots were tagged over 200,000 times, with many businesses making it into the top ten list.

Christchurch Park - 25,000 posts

Christchurch Park, with its large lawns and wooded areas, takes the top spot as the most Instagrammable location in Ipswich.

The park hosts a variety of facilities, including tennis courts, bowling greens and outdoor gym equipment.

Christchurch Mansion, a sprawling Tudor mansion built in around 1550, is located in the park which is open to the public as an art gallery.

This picnic hotspot is a win with Instagrammers, with around 25,000 photos posted from the park grounds

Portman Road Stadium - 9,525 posts

Portman Road Stadium, which has been the home ground of Ipswich Town F.C. since 1884, is the second most popular Instagram photo destination with over 9,500 posts being shared from it.

Staging football matches, sporting events and music concerts, most recently hosting Ed Sheeran's TikTok concert, Portman Road is the largest capacity football ground in East Anglia.

Football fans make up the majority of those posting from this location as they attend games in support of Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town Centre - 6,812 posts

The town centre is next in the list of popular Instagram locations, with many opting to post 'going out' pictures with their friends and tagging this location.

Ipswich is one of the oldest towns in England with over 1,500 years of history.

The town centre is full of high street brands, independent shops, restaurants and pubs, many of which feature as backdrops in the Ipswich Town Centre feed.

The multiplex cinema chain which shows the latest films in 2D and 3D is next on the list of Ipswich's most Instagrammable places.

Found at Cardinal Park, the cinema has remained popular with visitors despite its temporary closure due to Covid, and has been tagged in over 4,000 uploads.

Ipswich Town Hall and Corn Exchange - 3,611 posts

The Town Hall and Corn Exchange has been a popular location, as various events and meetings take place within its walls.

Many local societies and organisations meet there for luncheons, dinners, dances, concerts, exhibitions and coffee mornings, amounting to 3,611 tags on Instagram.

Revolution Ipswich - 3,354 posts

Revolution cocktail bar and restaurant is the most popular tagged bar in Ipswich with 3,354 photos uploaded from it.

Located in the town centre, Revolution is a popular weekend spot, with three bars, lots of seating and a large dancefloor.

Revolution is a national restaurant chain and the closest venues after Ipswich can be found in Cambridge and Norwich.

The Cosy Club - 3,125 posts

The Cosy Club is another restaurant making it into the top ten list with 3,125 tagged posts.

It offers a variety of food from a large menu with many vegetarian and vegan options.

The decor in this restaurant, with vintage paintings and muted colours, makes this place an Instagram favourite.

Unit 17 - 3,055 posts

One of the town's most popular nightclubs, Unit 17 has had over 3,055 tags.

Photos using the Unit 17 location show nightclub-goers posing in the venue, and will surely increase in number following the reopening of nightclubs this week.

Arcade Street Tavern - 2,837 posts

The Arcade Street Tavern takes the title of most Instagrammed independent business in Ipswich, with 2,837 posts.

The tavern has a selection of over 120 beers from all over the world, and is located in a Grade 2 Georgian town house, making it the perfect backdrop for a selfie or two.

Applaud Coffee - 2,597 posts

In tenth position for the title of Ipswich's most Instagrammable place is Applaud Coffee.

This award winning speciality coffee house has fast become a popular visit for a caffeine fix and also offers a variety of fresh cakes and treats.

With a well kept garden seating area, 2,597 coffee lovers have posted their pick-me-up from this location.
