Claydon standing crops fire sees eight engines attend

A blaze has ripped through a field of standing crops in Claydon, with multiple crews on the scene.

Eight fire engines are attending, with crews mobilised from Woodbridge, Framlingham, Hadleigh, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, Ipswich and Elmswell among those deployed.

It is unknown how many acres are affected.

The incident was reported at about 2.30pm today.

At about 4.50pm, a fire service spokesman said the fire was surrounded and there were no casualties.

It comes as crews across the county tackle a wave of field fires.

At lunchtime today, a blaze was reported near a carvan park in East Bergholt, with up to fourteen vehicles called to the scene.

Meanwhile, in Little Glemham, a fire tore through a 27-acre field.

Five fire engines were mobilised from Woodbridge, Framlingham, Felixstowe, Orford and Aldeburgh stations.
