Ipswich Bazaar set to open in former Carr Street Poundland later this month

The opening date for a multicultural supermarket in Ipswich town centre has been revealed.

Ipswich Bazaar will open its doors on July 22, having taken over the former Poundland in Carr Street.

The ‘superstore’ was originally scheduled to open in mid-June.

A grand opening event is planned for launch day.

Owner Ariful Islam said: “We want as many people from Suffolk as possible to gather here on opening day and get the best deals.”

On opening day, there will be special offers, with lots of discounted products, Mr Islam said.

He hoped the new store would be a place where people of all cultures and backgrounds can come and find the goods they need.

Ipswich Bazaar will be open seven days a week, from 8am until 11pm.

An eatery will also be located on the site, which is due to open at a later date.

There will also be a play area.

SuffolkNews first reported that Ipswich Bazaar would fill the former Poundland in March.

Mr Islam said: “Basically I thought about the town first, the town is really dying and absolutely dry.

“I thought, if I open this, with ample car parking next to it, it would be convenient for customers.”

He said Ipswich did not have this kind of multicultural supermarket.
