Beeches Community Primary School, in Shakespeare Road, Ipswich, to reopen after overnight roof fire
A primary school will reopen today after a fire broke out on its roof.
The Beeches Community Primary School, in Shakespeare Road, Ipswich, was shut yesterday after an overnight fire.
Six engines were called to the blaze involving solar panels at 9.45pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze, which was brought under control just after 11pm.
The school had to close yesterday on what should have been the first day of term.
In an online statement, the school said: “Thank you to all parents, carers and families for your understanding in this difficult situation.
“Our top priority is the safety of pupils and following checks by qualified electricians we are now completely satisfied that the school is ready to re-open.”
