Suffolk Highways postpone transport of abnormal load from Ipswich to Eye due to operational issues

The planned transportation of an abnormal load across Suffolk has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

A 365-tonne generator was scheduled to be moved from Ipswich docks to the Synchronous Condenser Plant in Yaxley at 6am tomorrow.

However, Suffolk Highways has confirmed that the operation will not proceed as planned.

The A140 was initially set to be closed from junction 51 of the A14, near Coddenham, to the A143 junction, near Scole, at the Suffolk-Norfolk border – but the road will now remain open.

Suffolk Highways announced on X that the delay is due to ‘unforeseen operational issues’ and that further updates will be provided in due course.
