Three people rescued from mud on bank of River Orwell at Orwell Country Park

Three people have been rescued from mud on the bank of the River Orwell in Ipswich this evening after they became stuck.

Five fire crews from Ipswich East, Princes Street and Woodbridge were called to the scene at Orwell Country Park close to the Orwell Bridge just after 5pm.

Firefighters and coastguards worked to help the stranded people and they were all successfully freed by 6.15pm.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said they were then taken to dry land by the coastguard.
