Two arrests made after man suffers serious injuries in assault on Ipswich waterfront





Two men have been arrested after another suffered serious head and facial injuries in an assault on Ipswich waterfront two weeks ago.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on August 21 and taken to Martlesham Police investigation centre for questioning.

A second man, 25, was arrested on Tuesday and also taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

Both have been bailed until October 21.

A cordon was put in place after police were called to the scene in Helena Road at 12.15am on August 18 after reports of men being involved in a fight.

It is believed to have started inside A Listers at Aurora Bar before moving outside.

One of the men, in his 30s, was reportedly pinned against a grey BMW car, which was parked outside, and struck with a glass bottle to the side of the head.

He suffered serious head and facial injuries, not believed to be life threatening, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Another man suffered injuries to his hand when he attempted to intervene and stop the incident.

The investigation into assault continues.
