Attempted serious sexual assault in Wash Lane, near Ipswich, prompts witness appeal from Suffolk police

Police are looking for witnesses after a woman was attacked from behind by a man in an attempted serious sexual assault.

It happened between 5pm and 6.15pm yesterday in Wash Lane, Witnesham, near Ipswich.

The woman reported being attacked by the man who attempted to sexually assault her before she ran away to alert the police.

The man is described as white, tall, wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and thin gloves.

An investigation is being carried out by detectives and police are conducting patrols in the area.

Those with concerns are being encouraged to speak with officers.

Police are urging anyone in the area of Wash Lane and Burwash between 4pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, February 10 to get in touch if they witnessed the incident, have seen a man matching the description or have CCTV footage which could help the investigation.

Those driving near Wash Lane, Burwash, America Hill who may have dashcam footage are also being asked to get in touch.
