A woman has died after crash on the A12 near Stratford St Mary in Suffolk.

Emergency services were called at 7.47pm yesterday to the busy north-south road to reports a crash on the northbound carriageway at the junction with the B1068.

A woman in her 20s, the driver and only occupant of her silver Skoda Fabia, died at the scene, Suffolk Police have today confirmed.

Police said she crashed into a post, with fire crews from Ipswich's Princess Street, Woodbridge, and Hadleigh being called to the scene.

The road was closed until about 5.45am today, as crash scene investigators worked at the scene and cleared the road.

A Suffolk Police spokesman today said: "Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage that captured the collision to come forward and contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting CAD ref 343 of 2 August 2021."
