Woman bitten in Ipswich's Bramford Lane by American Bulldog-type dog

Police want to trace the owners of a dog after a woman was bitten on the leg in Ipswich.

The victim was left with a wound and bruises and went for a hospital check-up after the incident, which happened in Bramford Lane at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Officers said the black American Bulldog-type dog lunged at the woman as she was walking past.

The animal was on a lead and being walked by a couple with a buggy at the time.

The man is described as white, in his late 20s, with black hair and of a heavy build. He was wearing a dark shirt and tracksuit trousers.

The woman, who was pushing the buggy, is described as white with fair hair.

Officers want to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.
