Hull City defender Jacob Greaves set for Ipswich Town medical as Darragh McCann joins from Glentoran

Hull City centre-back Jacob Greaves is set to undergo a medical at Ipswich Town, according to The Athletic.

It was reported last week that the Blues had submitted a joint bid for the 23-year-old defender and his Tigers teammate Jaden Philogene in the region of £35m.

While The Athletic claim that talks are still ongoing between Town and the 22-year-old winger, Ipswich are looking to close in on the signing of Greaves – who has made more than 170 appearances for Hull.

Greaves, who graduated from the Tigers’ academy after joining them at eight years old, played 43 games for Hull last term as they finished three points outside of the Sky Bet Championship play-off places under, now former boss, Liam Rosenior.

His impressive 2023/24 campaign, in which he registered two goals and four assists, earned him a place in the Championship Team of the Season.

Ipswich have already welcomed club record signing, and last season’s loan star, Omari Hutchinson and former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson through the door this summer.

Meanwhile, Town have completed the signing of Northern Ireland Under-16 international Darragh McCann from Glentoran.

The left-back, who has been labelled as a free-kick expert, has penned a three-year deal at Portman Road following his success in the Belfast outfit’s academy side last season – as he helped them win the NIFL Academy League.

McCann, who has been converted to a full-back over the past few seasons following spells in midfield, will join the Blues’ Under-18s side for the upcoming campaign.
