Ipswich Town Women have completed the signing of former England youth international Olivia Smith.

The 21-year-old has joined the Tractor Girls following a season with London Bees and Charlton Athletic in the Women's Championship.

Smith is well known to Ipswich boss Joe Sheehan, who coached the defender earlier in her career at Barking Abbey Girls.

She also spent time within the youth systems at Millwall, West Ham United and Chelsea before signing a scholarship in America with the University of Oklahoma.

Upon her return to the UK she rejoined West Ham, followed by moves to London Bees and Charlton – the latter of whom offered her a contract to turn fully professional, but that would have clashed with Smith's career in the police force.

Instead, she has decided to link up once again with Sheehan and become Ipswich's first addition of the summer.

Meanwhile, yesterday Ipswich announced their released and retained list ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Retained: Lindsey Cooper, Lucy Egan, Anna Grey, Eva Hubbard, Eloise King, Abbie Lafayette, Paige Peake, Natasha Thomas, Blue Wilson

Departing: Amy-Leigh Abrehart, Sasha Adamson, Nikita Runnacles, Molly Sutherland (University), Lucy Williamson, Emma Wallis (University)

Retiring: Georgia Allen, Amanda Crump, Paige Wakefield
