Ipswich Town Under-18s set to host Premier League Fulham after emphatic FA Youth Cup win at Chelmsford City
Five unanswered goals saw Ipswich Town progress to the third round of the FA Youth Cup at Chelmsford City last night, writes Jacob Henderson.
Ola Bello netted a hat-trick for Adem Atay's side at Melbourne Stadium, with Elkan Baggott and Fraser Alexander also on target for the young Blues.
Portman Road will play host for the third round tie which sees Town take on Fulham.
The young Blues were in control from the first whistle and took the lead inside 10 minutes. Nico Valentine forced Chelmsford's 'keeper into a good save but Bello was on hand to tuck in the rebound.
Ten minutes later and the visitors doubled their advantage, Baggott rising highest and heading in from a corner.
It remained that way until four minutes before half-time, when Alexander capitalised with a close-range finish after the hosts had failed to clear their lines.
Five minutes after half-time and Bello got his second and Town's fourth. The Blues forward collected the ball after some neat play down the left flank before slotting into the net.
Bello then produced a smart finish to seal his hat-trick fourteen minutes from time having latched on to a ball over the top of the Chelmsford defence.
Tawanda Chirewa, Jesse Nwabueze and Tyrese Osbourne all got a taste of the action as they came on as second-half substitutes for Town.
Atay's side will host Fulham in the third round with the tie to be played before December 12.
The club have said they will look to live-stream the fixture.
