Former Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham has joined Forest Green Rovers ahead of this weekend's game between the two sides.

The 29-year-old started his career at Portman Road, making his debut as a 16-year-old against Doncaster Rovers.

Wickham progressed through the ranks, making 72 appearances in a Town shirt before joining Sunderland in 2011.

Injuries hampered his time in the Premier League with both Sunderland and Crystal Palace, and he was eventually released by the Eagles in 2021.

Wickham spent the second half of last season with MK Dons in League One, scoring just the once in 15 appearances.

He told the Forest Green club website: "I had a chat with the manager last week and I had a good think about it and this is definitely an exciting project that I want to be part of.

"This team are coming into this season on the back of getting promoted and the club are going in the right direction.

"The style of play at Forest Green suits me and is a part to my game that some people may not be aware of. I want to get back to my best here."
