The positive news keeps coming for Ipswich Town supporters following confirmation that Luke Woolfenden has signed a new three-year contract.

Earlier this week it was announced that both Wes Burns and Kayden Jackson had agreed to fresh terms at Portman Road, while earlier this afternoon Sone Aluko's 12-month extension was revealed.

And now academy graduate Woolfenden has followed suit, putting pen to paper on a deal that runs through until the summer of 2025.

The Ipswich-born 23-year-old told the club's website: “I was really enjoying my football in the second half of last season, and I am delighted to have signed a new contract.

“Working with the boss has been great and I am also enjoying my role in the team.

“I believe the club is only going in one direction and I want to be a part of it, with an immediate aim of promotion next season.”

Meanwhile, manager Kieran McKenna added: “Luke applied himself well last season and put in some strong performances for us.

“He contributed defensively but also played a part in starting attacks and driving us forward. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him so far, and I look forward to seeing him continue to focus and grow as a player at the club.”

This lunchtime Ipswich also revealed that three youngsters have had their contracts with the club extended, including wantaway striker Tyreece Simpson.
