Paul Cook believes that his Ipswich Town side have to start putting a run of form together heading into a crucial part of the season.

The Blues are almost at the halfway point of the Sky Bet League One campaign, and face bottom-of-the-table Crewe Alexandra on Sunday (3pm).

However, Cook's side have won just one of their last one of their last six games in all competitions although the Ipswich boss is hoping that they can find consistency heading into the winter period.

"We have to find consistency. For our supporters to want to trust us, we have to find consistency," he said.

"My opinion is I am still searching to put that team on the pitch that I trust, the supporters trust and even the players themselves probably trust.

"Tuesday night was really disappointing. I fully agree with every supporter - it is everything I dislike about a team. But that comes off the back of Sunderland where, especially in the first half, it was everything I liked about a team.

Goals from Ben Wiles and Shane Ferguson saw Ipswich fall to their seventh defeat of the League One season at home to Rotherham United.

It was a performance that disappointed Cook after a strong performance in their defeat to Sunderland last Saturday.

The Ipswich boss is keen for his side to emulate the success of the Millers, who are unbeaten in their last 15 games.

He said: "I think that is when you have to look at the opposition and go 'yeah, that's a benchmark of where we want to go'.

"As a team, their whole identity was clear to see. Their desire to win the game was clear to see. Their energy to run forward was clear to see, and that is where we are trying to be as Ipswich Town Football Club."

Ipswich were without Sone Aluko on Tuesday night, but the summer signing will be back in contention for the visit of Crewe, Cook confirmed.
