Ipswich Town will begin their quest for promotion from League One at home to Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season.

The Blues have started their last two seasons at home with mixed success, having needed a late equaliser against Morecambe last August.

Kieran McKenna's side will then head to newly-promoted Forest Green Rovers, before returning to Portman Road to face Liam Manning's MK Dons. The latter game will be preceded by the visit of Colchester United in the Carabao Cup First Round, a draw that also took place today.

Trips to Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town round off the first five games for the Blues.

December appears a tricky month on paper. Town begin the month at home to Fleetwood and Peterborough, before facing games against Wycombe (A), Oxford (H) on Boxing Day and Portsmouth (A) to finish 2022.

The traditional busy Christmas schedule will also see the Blues travel to the LNER Stadium to face Lincoln City on New Year's Day.

April will see Town play four of their seven games at Portman Road, with the Easter weekend pitching the Blues at home to Wycombe before heading to Cheltenham.

The Blues' last home game will come against Exeter City, before a trip north to Fleetwood on Saturday, May 6, 2023, on the last day of the season.
