Ipswich Town: Joey Sadler discusses club’s form and Wes Burns’ trivela goal against Coventry

Lose one? No problem, we'll just win our next two. Seriously, how do you even describe things at the moment?

Defeat at The Hawthorns has been followed up superbly with six points, five goals, two goal-of-the-season contenders and one genuinely in with a chance of winning The FIFA Puskás Award.

We've seen some great goals lately and to be honest, do we ever score a bad one under Kieran McKenna? But Wesley Burns' outside of the boot curler (or 'trivela' if we have to) has surely got to be the best yet?

I sit in the Sir Alf Lower with my grandad and we've been fortunate enough to have several stunners down our end over the last few years.

We’ve had Celina's luscious lob against Crewe back in 2021, Conor Chaplin's rocket against Exeter back in April to send us to the Championship, as well as recent strikes from Jack Taylor and Massimo Luongo as previously mentioned.

But seriously, that tops the lot. It's got to. It's just utterly stupendous.

The biggest compliment I can give it is that in my local five-aside game on Monday, the consensus from most players was to see if they could 'score a Burnsy'.

It's safe to say none of us managed it, with mine closer to the car park than the top corner.

I wrote last week about how this period was going to be tough for Ipswich and it's still going to be just that. But those two victories and the goals on show are bound to send fear into any opposition defence.

To beat us, you've really got to be at it, otherwise we could hurt you at any opportunity.

Town are 19 matches in now, which means we're only four fixtures away from having played every team at least once, yet still sit second in the table.

Bigger tests will come, of course they will. But this team and this manager just give you so much confidence that whoever and wherever we are, we can beat them.

Up the Town.
