Ipswich Town need to build on impressive Blackpool win when they face Accrington Stanley
Wow, what a win that was last Saturday. I was rather sceptical about Town’s trip to the seaside and thought it might be where they suffer their first defeat of the season.
However, and I’ll say this lightly, I couldn’t have been more wrong!
The Blues were absolutely electric on the Lancashire coast and quite simply embarrassed Blackpool in their own backyard.
It was so pleasing to see Ipswich go and dominate a game, scoring some quality goals along the way.
It’s another Lancashire side this weekend for the Tractor Boys as we welcome Accrington Stanley to Portman Road.
The visitors will be hoping they aren’t on the end of another 4-1 defeat by Town, who beat them by that scoreline earlier this calendar year.
Unfortunately, we will all remember that humiliating FA Cup exit at the start of 2019, as well as that 2-0 defeat, which was the first of the Blues’ season at the hands of Stanley in 2019/20.
I think I speak for all Town supporters when I say it would be nice to get another one over them.
Stanley are sixth having won their last three games in and make no mistake, Paul Lambert’s side will have to be on top form in this one.
With seven scored and zero conceded at home so far, I’m confident that we’ll be able to get the job done and I think it’s imperative we do just that, with two tough away trips up next against Doncaster and Lincoln.
I said it last week but this month is going to be massive for Town with how I see our season shaping up and with all due respect to our previous opponents, I think our next run of fixtures are bound to test us a lot more.
So far, a makeshift Town side is taking the league by storm and although I’m keeping my feet firmly on the ground after what happened last season, it’s always a nice feeling to see Ipswich playing well and sitting top of the league.
