Ipswich Town continue to disappoint as the season's end cannot come quick enough
The more things change, the more they stay the same. In a week where the football family was rocked by news six clubs within England were looking to break into their own league, possibly changing the top tier landscape forever, Ipswich had the chance to go within a point of the third tier play-off places.
However, after a bright start on Tuesday they did what they have become used to doing and collapsed in a spectacular fashion, conceding two first-half goals from set pieces.
The league table will tell you that Ipswich are close to being a play-off team, but in reality, they’re much closer to the bottom six than the top six. Not in points but certainly in quality.
Never have I seen a Town team with so little fight, so little spine and so little in quality.
If a simple pass is on they’ll try a Hollywood. If the long ball is all they have they will try and work their way out of trouble. They lack everything needed in modern football; quality, pace, strength and football intelligence.
I’m a proud Ipswich fan. I simply want a club that strives to be the best of itself, regardless of what division that is in.
Every time I feel we have hit rock bottom and I’ve never been more embarrassed by my football team; they embarrass me further.
Colin, a viewer of the Talking Town podcast messaged the show to say ‘never has he been so embarrassed as a Town fan.’ I sadly cannot help but agree.
The cold reality is that this is the result of 13 long, hard years under the previous owner. This is what 13 years of underfunding eventually does to you. I can’t wait for the summer of exciting change. I can’t wait to wave goodbye to some of these players and start a new brighter chapter as an Ipswich Town fan.
CAN WE END THE SEASON EARLY? After all, our players appear to have decided their season is over...
