Ipswich Town duo Kieran McKenna and Vaclav Hladky nominated for Sky Bet Championship awards for October

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna and goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky have been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards for October, respectively.

McKenna was presented with the September Manager of the Month accolade after his side went unbeaten in the league winning four of their five matches.

And the Tractor Boys went one better in October as they won all four of their Championship games throughout the month.

Town kept two clean sheets in a 3-0 victory at home to Hull and a 1-0 scoreline away at Bristol City.

There were also high-scoring results in a 4-2 win over Preston North End at Portman Road and a 3-2 victory at home to fellow League One promotion winners Plymouth Argyle.

The Town boss is in competition for the award with Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca who also kept a 100 per cent record throughout October – which saw the Foxes win all five of their matches.

Other nominees are Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick and Southampton’s Russell Martin.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky’s match-winning performances have been recognised with his nomination for Championship Player of the Month.

As well as the two clean sheets kept by the Czech shot-stopper, he also made 14 saves across the four games and his second half performance at home to Argyle kept the Blues in the contest, which allowed McKenna’s side to come from behind to claim all three points.

The 32-year-old has been one of Town’s stand-out performers this season and is keeping Christian Walton out of the starting line-up after his return from injury.
