Ipswich Town: Club legend Trevor Whymark and ‘super fan’ Tom Tomalin to be recognised in remembrance fixture against Leicester City at Portman Road

An Ipswich Town legend and a passionate ‘superfan’ are to be recognised in the club’s remembrance fixture against Leicester City at Portman Road tomorrow.

Tributes began pouring in yesterday for former Blues and Diss Town star Trevor Whymark following the 74-year-old’s death after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

As it is a dedicated remembrance fixture, there will be a one-minute silence and Trevor will be mentioned as part of it on matchday.

The club have partnered with Combat2Coffee, an inclusive mental health enterprise that supports veterans and families, to also be highlighting the Medals2Matches campaign for the home match.

As part of the campaign, Town has donated a number of tickets for veterans to have the opportunity to take part in the club’s remembrance tributes, with those that do exhibit their medals entitled to a 10 per cent discount on all food and beverages across the stadium.

Volunteers from the Royal British Legion will be positioned around the stadium collecting donations.
