Omari Hutchinson posts emotional message after departing Ipswich Town for parent club Chelsea
Loan star Omari Hutchinson has posted an emotional departure message to Ipswich Town’s fans, players and coaches after departing Suffolk to rejoin parent club Chelsea.
After helping them to promotion to the Premier League the 20-year-old has said Town will ‘always have a place in my heart’ after a ‘special year’ with ‘special people’.
The Jamaica international winger or attacking midfielder enjoyed a standout season-long loan at Portman Road, ending with 11 goals (10 league) and six assists (all league) from 50 appearances (44 league) that included 25 starts.
His displays also saw him pick up the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for February and have now seen him included – alongside captain Sam Morsy and Leif Davis – on the nominations for the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year (votes can be cast here until 11.59pm on Sunday, May 19).
Hutchinson, who is understood to have returned to Chelsea to discuss his future – with many Town fans hoping they may still see him in their shirt again – posted on his Instagram account: “Dear Town fans, I want to reflect on how special this year has been for me.
“Since arriving at the club you have all made me feel welcome and loved.
“Thanks to my amazing team-mates who I now call brothers, (who) helped me from the first day I entered that changing room.
“(I would) Also like to thank the special people behind the scenes who treated me like one of their own.
“To all the coaching staff that helped develop me into the player I am today, thank you.
“Most importantly, a massive thank you to Kieran McKenna for trusting and believing in my ability. You brought out the best of me and I will always be grateful for that.
“Ipswich Town will always have place in my heart.”
Town players were quick to comment on the post with Luke Woolfenden simply replying with ‘The young goat’ while Wes Burns put: “O. Clutch ima miss you my boy.”
