Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna expecting Bolton Wanderers to be 'dominant' in League One
Kieran McKenna is expecting Saturday's opponents Bolton Wanderers to be one of the strongest teams in League One this season.
Ian Evatt's side are expected to be one of the teams challenging for the play-offs following a strong finish to the 2021/22 campaign.
Bolton lost just three games after January 15, picking up 14 wins from 22 games.
As a result, the Ipswich Town boss is expecting a tough start at Portman Road tomorrow.
"I think they are a very good team. The second half of last season their form was really good and they were - points-per-game - right up there in the league," he said.
"I am not surprised as I think they are very well-coached, have a good style of play and have a philosophy on how to do things. Put all of that together and they make for a good team who I am sure will be one of the more dominant teams in the league again.
"It is going to make for an exciting game. Obviously it has got an extra dimension to it being the first game so we have to see how well the team's settle."
The Lancashire side are one of several teams expecting to be fighting for promotion in what is a strong division.
McKenna added: "We have to respect everyone.
"There is seven teams who finished above us in the league who are still in the league and there is three teams who have come down from the division below. There are other big clubs in the league like Charlton who finished below us.
"For me I am not worried about being interested in one team or another team. I know it is a very strong division but we have to focus on ourselves, pick up as many wins as we can and accumulate as many points as we can."
