Ipswich Town coach Bryan Klug leaves Portman Road after recent links to Norwich City

Bryan Klug has opted to end his long association with Ipswich Town ‘in order to pursue other interests’.

Klug has been connected to the Suffolk club for almost 50 years having come through the youth ranks as a player at Portman Road in the late 1970s.

After a playing career that took in stints at the likes of Wimbledon, Chesterfield, Peterborough United, Klug returned to Ipswich in 1987 as part of the youth set-up and went on to play a leading role in the development of a host of players – including Richard Wright, Kieron Dyer, James Scowcroft, Richard Naylor and Titus Bramble.

Klug, who has had previous interim spells in charge of the first team, also headed up the academy when Ipswich Under-18s beat Southampton to win the FA Youth Cup in 2005 thanks to an Ed Upson goal.

However, Klug has now decided that the time is right to move on to pastures new.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Ipswich Town can confirm long-serving coach Bryan Klug has made the decision to leave the club in order to pursue other interests.

“Everyone at Ipswich Town thanks Bryan for his contribution over such a prolonged period and wishes him well for the future.”

Recently, TWTD reported that Norwich City were keen to secure Klug’s services as part of their backroom staff.
