Freddie Ladapo departs Ipswich Town while Leon Ayinde joins Rochdale on loan until January

Striker Freddie Ladapo has departed Ipswich Town following the mutual termination of his contract.

The 31-year-old, who made 75 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, achieved back-to-back promotions during his two seasons at Portman Road – playing a particularly vital role in Kieran McKenna’s side’s escape from Sky Bet League One in 2022/23.

During that campaign, he played all 46 games and netted 17 goals to help fire Town to the Sky Bet Championship.

Last term, Ladapo, who arrived at Portman Road from Rotherham United in the summer of 2022, made 22 appearances for the Blues in all competitions – scoring four times – before his loan move to Charlton Athletic in January for the remainder of the campaign.

A statement on the club’s website read: “The club would like to thank Freddie for his contributions during his time in Suffolk and wishes him well for the future.”

Meanwhile, young forward Leon Ayinde has joined Vanarama National League side Rochdale on loan until January. The Irishman, who signed for Town in February last year, is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues, having trained with the senior squad over the last year.
