Talks between Ipswich Town and Burton Albion take place regarding loan move for Gassan Ahadme

Talks have taken place between Ipswich Town and Burton Albion about the possibility of Gassan Ahadme returning to the Pirelli Stadium.

The striker joined Town from the Brewers on transfer deadline day, but he has featured just eight times in the first half of the season.

Ahadme picked up an injury in the defeat to Plymouth Argyle in September, but has struggled to move himself further up the pecking order of Ipswich strikers under Kieran McKenna.

Burton boss Dino Maamria has revealed that discussions have taken place between the two clubs for the 22-year-old, with the former Portsmouth man only able to return to the Pirelli Stadium this season due to EFL rules.

“Gassan did really well for us at the start of the season" said Maamria when speaking to the Burton club website.

"Ipswich have signed even more forwards this window and he was already struggling to make the team.

“I spoke to their manager last week. We were talking about a few players and Gassan came up in that conversation. He (the Ipswich manager) was keen for Gassan to come back to us, and I felt the same way, but we’re not in a position to pay what they asked for him.

“As far as I’m concerned today, the deal is not going to happen because we cannot meet their financial expectations.”

The 22-year-old may find his chances limited during the second half of the season.

McKenna already had a healthy cohort of attackers at his disposal, but with the arrival of Nathan Broadhead and George Hirst, that list has only increased.
