Ipswich Town agree deal to sign Jacob Greaves from Hull City while Jaden Philogene remains with Tigers in Turkey

Ipswich Town have reportedly agreed a deal with Hull City for centre-back Jacob Greaves.

The fee, according to The Athletic, is believed to be in the region of £15m with add-ons expected to be worth £3m for the defender who is contracted to the Tigers until the summer of 2026.

The 23-year-old, who has made more than 170 appearances for Hull and was named in the Championship Team of the Season last term, was set for a medical at the Blues earlier this week.

Greaves, who graduated from the Tigers’ academy after joining them at eight years old, played 43 games for Hull last term as they finished three points outside of the Sky Bet Championship play-off places under, now former boss, Liam Rosenior.

While Town were also said to have submitted a bid for Greaves’ Hull teammate Jaden Philogene, Baz Cooper from The Hull Daily Mail has reported that the 22-year-old winger, who recorded 12 goals and six assists last campaign, is with the Tigers on their pre-season tour in Riva, Turkey, but is not training with the main group.

Meanwhile, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the paperwork is being completed for the Blues to complete the signing of Manchester City striker Liam Delap.

It was reported earlier this week that the England Under-21 international, who scored eight goals in 32 appearances on loan at Hull last season, had passed a medical at the Blues.

Town have already welcomed club record signing, and last season’s loan star, Omari Hutchinson and former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson through the door this summer.
