Ipswich Town left-back Leif Davis not expected to be sidelined for too long with hamstring injury suffered at Queens Park Rangers

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has confirmed that Leif Davis will not be sidelined long term.

The left-back missed last night’s 1-1 draw with Watford with the hamstring injury that he suffered during last weekend’s 4-1 victory on the road at Queens Park Rangers.

However, the 25-year-old should be available for selection again after the upcoming international break, while there is an outside chance that he could feature away at Swansea City on Saturday.

Asked how long Davis will be out of action, McKenna said: “We don’t know. It’s not like a very serious hamstring (injury).

“We’ve an international break coming up and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t back after that. For Saturday, we’ll have to wait and see over the next couple of days.”

Davis was replaced yesterday evening by Ben Johnson, who acquitted himself well despite operating on his weaker foot.

McKenna, who was frustrated by the dropped points, added: “He did a good job. Of course, it’s hard to replicate Leif’s qualities, so no-one’s going to play the position quite the same, but he linked up well with Jaden (Philogene), delivered some good crosses off his right and left foot and did his defensive job well. He stepped in well.”
