Ipswich Town vs Man Utd: Wes Burns starts for Blues with Ben Johnson not featuring while Reuben Amorin starts with Marcus Rashford in reported 3-4-3
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has made what appears to be one enforced change for the visit of Manchester United on Super Sunday (4.30pm, Sky Sports) with Wes Burns coming in for Ben Johnson.
The latter was one of a number of standout performers in the 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur two weeks ago, but the former West Ham United full-back or wing-back is not included in the 20-man squad, presumably due to an injury which was not revealed at the pre-match press conference.
With George Hirst’s knee injury from the Spurs match having been revealed as keeping him out in the coming weeks, Ali Al-Hamadi has come in on the bench along with the returning Jack Taylor.
Welsh international Burns is set to offer a more attacking option down the right to test out new Manchester United manager Reuben Amorin’s squad’s ability to cope in the switch to his favoured 3-4-3 formation that he utilised to such great effect at Sporting Lisbon.
The Portugese’s other big call has come in attack with out-of-favour England international Marcus Rashford starting in the central slot ahead of Joshua Zirkzee.
It is being reported experienced defensive midfield Casemiro is set to start in the centre of the back three defensive line with Niussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot in the wing-back roles.
