Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna becomes odds-on favourite to join Brighton and replace Roberto De Zerbi
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has become odds-on favourite to become the next Brighton & Hove Albion boss.
It was announced at the weekend that the Seagulls had mutually agreed to end Roberto De Zerbi’s contract, and the Italian oversaw his final game in charge at the Amex Stadium yesterday – bowing out on a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.
And just days after it was confirmed that the 44-year-old would depart Brighton, Town boss McKenna has moved to 4/6 odds with SkyBet to replace him.
The 38-year-old, who Manchester United were reportedly ‘pondering a move’ for last week, has also caught the eye of Chelsea – according to The Observer – as Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Stamford Bridge hangs in the balance.
McKenna has done nothing short of a sublime job at Portman Road since his arrival in December 2021, guiding the Blues to back-to-back promotions and ending a 22-year wait for Town fans to see their side compete in the Premier League.
Southampton manager Russell Martin is second favourite with the bookies to join the Seagulls, with odds of 5/1, while Graham Potter is tipped for a return to Brighton at 6/1.
