Town closing in on warm-up schedule
Town are putting together a schedule of pre-season games as the build-up to the new campaign starts to increase.
With September 12 marked as the start of the EFL season, Blues are looking for five or six friendlies through August to get the players match fit for what will be the first competitive game since March 7.
“We have had a lot of requests for games and it’s a case of confirming the pre-season programme now,” Town’s general manager football operations, Lee O’Neill, told the Club website.
“It is going to be a different pre-season. We are not going abroad, there won’t be a training camp. The focus will be around the training ground and we won’t be travelling very far for games.
“There has been a lot of interest from local clubs and we’d love to be able to sort something out with all of them but that is not going to be possible.”
Town’s players and staff were tested for Covid-19 this morning for the first time. The Club are still at a phase one stage of training but plans are being put in place to go to the next level.
Blues’ development squad have also begun their pre-season, while the Academy are lined up to return this week as well.
