Ipswich Town complete signing of Arijanet Muric from Burnley on a four-year deal
Ipswich Town have completed the signing of goalkeeper Arijanet Muric from Burnley on a four-year deal.
It had been previously reported that the Blues had agreed a deal worth £8m with the Clarets for the shot-stopper, which could rise to more than £10m with add-ons.
The 25-year-old played 41 times and and kept 17 clean sheets during the Burnley’s promotion-winning campaign from the Sky Bet Championship in 2022/23 before his number-one spot at Turf Moor was taken by James Trafford.
However, the Kosovo international, who is a Manchester City academy graduate, did play 10 matches in the Premier League last term, conceding 16 times. He has also plied his trade with Nottingham Forest during their Championship campaign in 2019/20 – making five appearances for the City Ground outfit.
“I’m excited to have joined the club and am looking forward to getting started,” Muric told TownTV.
“I watched how the team played last season and feel the style will suit me very well, so this is the perfect move for me.
“I have had good conversations with the Manager and Rene (Gilmartin, head of goalkeeping) and believe this is the right place for me to be as the club moves into the Premier League.
“I’m looking forward to getting started.”
The goalkeeper, a position Ipswich have been targeting since the departure of last season’s first-choice shot-stopper Václav Hladký, will fly to Austria to join up with the Town squad during their pre-season camp later today.
Muric becomes Town’s fifth addition of the summer transfer window, joining Omari Hutchinson, Ben Johnson, Jacob Greaves and Liam Delap through the door at Portman Road.
