Ipswich Town launch joint bid for Hull City duo Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene
Ipswich Town have submitted a joint bid for Hull City pair Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene, according to The Athletic.
The former, a 23-year-old centre-back, made 43 appearances in the Tigers’ bid for a Sky Bet Championship play-off place last term, while Philogene played 32 times in the 2023/24 season under former Hull boss Liam Rosenior – scoring 12 goals and assisting six.
The Athletic, who are reporting that the joint bid is in the region of £35m, stated that discussions between the Blues and Hull are ‘ongoing but not complete’.
Greaves has made more than 175 appearances for the east Yorkshire outfit. His stellar 2023/24 campaign, which saw Hull finish three points outside the play-offs, earned him a spot in the Championship Team of the Season.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old winger Philogene has come off the back of his debut season in black and amber, following his move from Aston Villa last summer. He has also played for Cardiff City and Stoke City and is an England Under-21 international.
Ipswich have already completed the club record signing of last season’s loan star Omari Hutchinson and former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson.
Elsewhere, former Blues forward Kayden Jackson has joined Championship side Derby County on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Portman Road.
The 30-year-old joined Town in the summer of 2018 from Accrington Stanley and made 199 appearances during his six seasons with the Suffolk club.
He scored 28 goals, including vital strikes against Stoke, Preston and Sunderland to help the Blues secure promotion to the top flight.
