Ipswich Town will face Northampton Town and Cambridge United in Papa John's Trophy

Ipswich Town will face Northampton Town and Cambridge United in the group stage of this year's Papa John's Trophy.

The Blues have been in Southern Group A of the competition, and will face one of eight invited Under-21 sides in the other group stage fixture.

Town will find out which under-21 side - Arsenal, Brighton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Southampton, Tottenham or West Ham - they will face on Thursday at 11.30am, live on Sky Sports.

Kieran McKenna will then learn who is side will face in the first round of the Carabao Cup, with the draw set to take place at 2.30pm on Thursday afternoon.

Ipswich struggled in both competitions last season. They were knocked out in the first round of the Carabao Cup by Newport County, while they were also defeated by Arsenal Under-21s in the second round of the Papa John's Trophy.
