Ipswich Town have injury doubts over Ivan Azon, George Hirst and Leif Davis for Championship fixture against Watford at Portman Road

Ipswich Town have question marks over the availability of three players for tonight’s home encounter against Watford.

Striker Ivan Azon, who is on loan with the Blues from Serie A outfit Como, missed Saturday’s 4-1 victory at Queens Park Rangers with some ‘muscle tightness’.

And according to boss Kieran McKenna, the Spaniard is doubtful to return this evening for the visit of the Hornets.

McKenna, speaking after the triumph in west London, said: “He had some muscle tightness from the game last weekend, so he’s not been able to train this weekend and he’s not made it for the game, so we’ll see how he recovers.

“It’s nothing, hopefully, very serious, but Tuesday’s in doubt. We’ll have to see how he is over the next couple of days.”

Meanwhile, both George Hirst and Leif Davis limped off with hamstring problems during the second half at Loftus Road.

McKenna added: “Both felt their hamstring. I don’t think either felt it in a very, very big way but with hamstrings you don’t know, so we’ll assess them in the next 24 hours.”

Opponents Watford are one position and a single point below the ninth-placed Tractor Boys in the Championship table.

And they will arrive at Portman Road fresh from an eye-catching 3-0 win over second-placed Middlesbrough at the weekend.

“The league’s relentlessly tight, relentlessly competitive, proves every week more so than ever that anyone can beat anyone and they’ve picked up a big result,” said McKenna.

“I’ve seen one or two of their games since the new manager took over and I think they’ve been playing pretty well. I thought they played well at Coventry (3-1 defeat) the week before, which I’ve already watched, although they didn’t win the game.

“We know it’s a good team, good manager, big squad, good players. Every game’s tough, Tuesday’s going to be no different but we can look forward to it.”
