Ipswich Town: Winger Marcus Harness joins Championship outfit Derby County on loan deal as Reiss Nelson deal moves closer

Ipswich Town double promotion-winner Marcus Harness has completed a loan move to Championship outfit Derby County for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The winger or attacking midfielder is set to join former Town team-mate Kayden Jackson at the Rams, despite making his Premier League debut for the Suffolk side in their home defeat to Liverpool.

The 28-year-old’s departure opens a further space in Kieran McKenna’s sequad as Town close in on completing the loan signing of Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson.

A Town statement on Harness read: “He will now look for regular minutes while working under Paul Warne at Pride Park, with the Rams back in the Championship following promotion last season.

“The club would like to wish Marcus all the best during his time with the Rams.”

Harness, who started his career with Burton Albion, joined Town from Portsmouth in the summer of 2022.

He went on to play his part in second-placed finishes in both League One and the Championship.

It comes after the deadline day departures of striker Freddie Ladapo (mutual contract terminaton) and young forward Leon Ayinde (Rochdale, loan) have also been confirmed.

The summer transfer window closes at 11pm BST but deals that were submitted before this time can still be announced.
