Ipswich Town sign Darnell Furlong from West Bromwich Albion and complete loan addition of Como striker Ivan Azon
Ipswich Town have this evening announced a double signing.
First through the door at Portman Road was Darnell Furlong, who has arrived on a permanent deal from fellow Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
And he has been joined by young striker Ivan Azon – the young Spaniard having put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal in Suffolk.
For Furlong, he has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, having made the switch from the Baggies for an undisclosed fee.
Prior to joining West Brom in 2019, the 29-year-old came through the ranks at Queens Park Rangers, during which time he had loan spells at Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Swindon Town.
He told the club’s website: “It’s a real privilege to be here. I’ve had a look around and I’m really excited and intrigued by the ambition of the club, which is the main reason I wanted to come here.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge and to kicking on and I can’t wait to get started. Ipswich is a club sending out a real signal of intent and to be a part of that is exciting.”
Azon, meanwhile, saw a move to Ipswich fall through earlier this summer.
However, reports earlier today suggested that Town had revived their interest and the 22-year-old has now joined on loan from Serie A outfit Como.
Azon, who is the club’s ninth signing during the current transfer window, said: “It feels amazing to join the club. I feel proud and grateful to be here in Ipswich. It’s a big club with a really big history and I want to work hard and help the team, making the fans proud.
“I have had some great conversations with the Manager, Kieran McKenna, who has given me the confidence to give my best every day.
“Ipswich is a club with a lot of history and very passionate fans, which I can’t wait to experience.
“I am a striker who is strong and quick and will give everything for the team. I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in front of the supporters.”
Both players could make their Ipswich debuts during Saturday’s home Championship encounter against Derby County.
