Ipswich Town have ‘no interest’ in selling reported Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea target Liam Delap in January transfer window
Manager Kieran McKenna has stressed that both Ipswich Town and Liam Delap have ‘no interest’ in a parting of ways during the January transfer window.
The striker has arguably been one of the Premier League’s best summer signings following his arrival from Manchester City for a fee in the region of £15m.
The 21-year-old has scored seven top flight goals so far this term, with his form reportedly catching the eye of his former club City, as well as the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur.
However, McKenna has moved to shut down any notion of Delap leaving Portman Road this month – and instead he has focused on the positives of having players in the squad that some of the best clubs in the country would potentially like to sign.
“In terms of January, we’ve got no interest in anything other than Liam being at the football club and he’s got no interest in putting focus into anything other than playing for Ipswich Town at the moment and trying to get better every week,” said McKenna, who also revealed that he is keen to bolster his attacking options before the deadline passes.
“Other than that, I think, as a football club, we need to take pride that players are coming here, players are improving and the best teams in the world are going to be looking at some of our players because of the level that they’re operating at, and Liam’s certainly one of those, and not the only one.
“I think that’s something that, as a club, we should be really, really proud of, but certainly at this current time, everyone’s eyes are fully focused on having a strong second half of the season here.”
