Reported Ipswich Town target Matt Crooks has been the subject of a bid from an unspecified Championship club.

Recent speculation claimed that the Tractor Boys have had two offers rejected for the midfielder by Rotherham United – the latter believed to be worth in the region of £600,000.

However, it would now appear that Town face competition for the 27-year-old from a second tier side, although their financial package has also been turned by the Millers.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne told the Rotherham Advertiser: “There has been a bid from a Championship side but it hasn’t reached the chairman’s valuation."

The Advertiser adds that relegated Rotherham would prefer to retain Crooks as they bid to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Crooks, who joined the Yorkshire side from Northampton Town in 2019, has 12 months remaining on his contract at the New York Stadium.
