Ipswich Town reportedly plotting move for Rangers' former England international Jermain Defoe
Ipswich Town are reportedly launching an audacious bid to bring Jermain Defoe to Portman Road.
The former England international, who has more than 100 Premier League goals to his name, is believed to be in discussions with Scottish champions Rangers regarding an extension to his stay north of the border.
However, should a new contract at Ibrox not materialise, Football Insider has stated that Ipswich boss Paul Cook would be keen in recruiting the 38-year-old.
The report adds that Defoe has fallen down the pecking order of strikers at Rangers, with Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten often getting the nod from manager Steven Gerrard.
And it is thought that Cook would be prepared to offer the ex-West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur frontman more regular match action.
Defoe has scored 32 goals from his 72 appearances in a Rangers shirt.
