Suffolk News understands that Ipswich Town are among a host of Football League clubs that are keen on signing King's Lynn Town midfielder Sonny Carey.

The 20-year-old impressed in a struggling Linnets side last term, scoring five goals from his 42 appearances for the National League outfit.

His rise has been an impressive and rapid one, with Carey having joined Lynn just two years ago from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit Wroxham (Step 5 on the non-league ladder).

And it has not gone unnoticed by a batch of higher-league clubs, one of which we have been told is Ipswich.

It is not known what figure will convince Lynn to part with one of their star players, although the Eastern Daily Press has reported that a £100,000 bid from Championship side Luton Town was recently rejected.

Ipswich's League One rivals Blackpool are also said to be extremely interested, while both Swansea City and Bournemouth have previously been linked with the former Norwich City trainee.

Carey has 12 months remaining on his contract at The Walks, although it is believed Lynn will sell if a suitable offer is received.
