Ipswich Town reportedly battling Nottingham Forest and Derby County to sign Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton

Ipswich Town have reportedly joined the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton.

Earlier this week Ipswich manager Paul Cook revealed that he was hoping to make further additions to his squad before Tuesday's deadline, despite the fact he has already made 16 signings this summer.

One of those was 'keeper Vaclav Hladky, who arrived from Salford City and has started all five of Town's League One fixtures this term.

However, the former Czech Republic youth international, who was named in the League Two Team of the Season in 2020/21, has made a couple of errors in recent outings.

And according to Football Insider, Cook is now eager to further bolster his ranks between the post by bringing in Walton.

The report adds that Championship rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County are in the running to sign the 25-year-old, who previously worked under Cook during a loan spell at Wigan Athletic.

It is believed Brighton would prefer to sell the ex-England Under-21 youth international, rather than enter into a loan agreement.

Walton has also had loan stints with Bury, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Southend United and Blackburn Rovers.
