Ipswich Town linked with former England, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United striker Jermain Defoe
Ipswich Town are reportedly among a batch of EFL League One sides plotting a move for Jermain Defoe.
The Tractor Boys were linked with the former England international during the summer, but he ultimately he opted to remain with Scottish champions Rangers.
However, the 39-year-old struggled for game time during the first half of the campaign at Ibrox and earlier this month it was announced that he had left the club on a free transfer.
And according to Sky Sports News, that has captured the attention of Ipswich along with Sunderland, Oxford United and Charlton Athletic.
Speaking to talkSPORT earlier today, the ex-West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur frontman confirmed that there had been interest from one of his old teams in Sunderland, and that a number of others clubs had also made contact.
He said: "My phone's just gone mad to be honest. I think the phone still ringing at 39 is a good thing.
"We've got a few options. I think the Sunderland one's documented, that's out there."
Defoe scored 20 goals during his 57 caps for the Three Lions.
